Cinéma Vérité

Watching Anna Karina's best film,
Vivre Sa Vie, about a lady who abandons her marriage and a child in order to pursue a career as an actress. Faced with financial troubles she drifts into prostitution. It was made in 1962 and also draws from the writings of Montaigne, Baudelaire, Zola, and Edgar Allen Poe. Probably my favorite black and white film, xo

"The more one talks, the less the words mean. Why must one always talk? Often one shouldn't talk, but live in silence. Words should express just what one wants to say. Shouldn't love be the only truth? For that, love would always have to be true. "
